The Scale of This Moment

The Biggest Update in NetSuite's History.

At SuiteConnect NYC in February 2026, Oracle CEO Evan Goldberg described the 2026 release cycle as the most transformative in NetSuite's existence. That framing reflects the scope: not incremental improvements, but a fundamental shift toward AI-native financial operations.

The 2026.1 release shipped autonomous close agents, GenAI bank matching, AI-driven financial narrative generation, and deep EPM AI capabilities — while simultaneously previewing NetSuite Next, an entirely reimagined platform built for agentic finance workflows.

Important to understand: NetSuite releases are biannual and mandatory — they deploy automatically to all customer environments. This is different from Oracle Fusion's opt-in model. Your team needs to be aware of upcoming changes before they land in production.

🔄
Automatic Deployment
NetSuite releases deploy to all environments automatically on a biannual cadence. There is no opt-out. Your internal teams must stay ahead of what's coming to avoid disruption.
🤖
Autonomous Agents
2026.1 introduced four AI close agents that execute financial close tasks autonomously — monitoring exceptions, processing transactions, and surfacing insights without manual initiation.
🔮
NetSuite Next
A new AI-first platform built on the existing NetSuite data model. Features Ask Oracle (natural language ERP interface), SuiteAgents, and AI Canvas. GA planned for mid-2026 in North America.
2026.1 — What Shipped

AI Capabilities Live in Your Environment Now.

The 2026.1 release introduced the most comprehensive set of AI features in NetSuite's history. These capabilities are live in all customer environments. Here's what your finance team has access to today.

Financial Close
Intelligent Close Manager
A centralized AI-powered close command center that monitors your full period-end close: reconciliation status, open items, approvals pending, and estimated close completion. Flags at-risk items before they breach the calendar and surfaces actionable insights for your controller in real time.
Close Management AI Monitoring
Autonomous Close · Agent 1
Exception Management Agent
Automatically identifies, categorizes, and routes close exceptions — unreconciled items, out-of-balance entries, posting errors — to the appropriate owner with recommended resolution actions. Learns from prior-period patterns to prioritize high-impact exceptions first.
Exception Routing Autonomous
Autonomous Close · Agent 2
Close Management Agent
Executes routine close tasks autonomously — running standard allocations, triggering intercompany eliminations, initiating scheduled reconciliations, and advancing task status when dependencies are cleared. Reduces manual orchestration burden on your accounting team during peak close periods.
Task Automation Workflow
Autonomous Close · Agent 3
Process Optimization Agent
Analyzes close performance data across periods to identify systematic bottlenecks. Recommends process redesigns, task sequencing changes, and resource allocation adjustments. Provides data-driven input for your close calendar redesign initiatives — not just reactive alerts.
Process Mining Optimization
Autonomous Close · Agent 4
Flux Analysis Agent
Produces AI-generated variance analysis comparing current period actuals to prior periods and budgets. Drafts plain-English explanations of material movements — ready for your CFO narrative, board deck, or audit committee package with minimal additional editing.
Variance Analysis Narrative AI
Accounts Receivable
AI Bank Transaction Matching
GenAI-powered bank reconciliation that matches transactions using contextual understanding — not just exact-match rules. Handles partial payments, combined remittances, multi-currency transactions, and non-standard descriptions with significantly higher match rates than rule-based approaches.
Bank Reconciliation GenAI
Financial Planning & Analysis
EPM AI Assistant
Natural language interface for your EPM data. Ask questions in plain English ("Why did gross margin compress in Q1?"), generate scenario analyses, and produce board-ready commentary — all without needing to navigate EPM report configuration. Integrates with your existing planning dimensions and hierarchies.
FP&A Natural Language
Reporting & Insights
Generate Insight Button
Available across 40+ standard NetSuite reports, this one-click AI feature produces a plain-English summary of what the report shows: key trends, outliers, period-over-period movements, and contextual explanations. Significantly reduces time spent interpreting standard finance reports.
40+ Reports AI Summaries

Advanced Pricing AI: 2026.1 also introduced AI-generated pricing summaries that explain pricing rule logic, exception patterns, and margin impact in natural language — valuable for sales operations teams working alongside finance. Additionally, the SuiteCloud Developer AI (VS Code Cline plugin) enables AI-assisted SuiteScript development for technical teams extending the platform.

The Platform Horizon

NetSuite Next — What's Coming in Mid-2026.

NetSuite Next is not a new product — it's a reimagined user and AI experience layer built on the existing NetSuite data model. Existing data, configurations, and customizations persist. What changes is how users interact with the system and how AI operates across workflows.

🗣️
Ask Oracle (NLP Interface)
A conversational AI layer that lets users query the full NetSuite dataset in natural language. Ask revenue questions, drill into transactions, generate ad hoc reports, and navigate records — all without knowing where to click. Designed to democratize access to your ERP data across the finance org.
Natural LanguageERP Access
🤖
SuiteAgents
The full agentic workflow framework for NetSuite Next — enabling multi-step autonomous processes that span records, modules, and external systems. SuiteAgents are configurable by business users, not just developers, with guardrails and approval flows built in.
Agentic WorkflowsMulti-Step
🎨
AI Canvas
A visual workspace where finance users can build AI-augmented workflows, dashboards, and analysis environments without traditional development. Drag-and-drop agent and data connectors that surface insights across your NetSuite data in a flexible, configurable format.
Low-CodeVisual Builder

Autonomous Close in NetSuite Next: The four autonomous close agents available in 2026.1 are the foundation. NetSuite Next expands their capabilities with deeper orchestration, cross-module integration, and configurable AI decision boundaries — giving your finance leadership more granular control over what the agents do autonomously versus what they escalate.

Release Schedule

Understanding Your Update Cadence.

NetSuite's biannual mandatory release model means you cannot defer updates. Every new AI feature — and every change to existing functionality — arrives in your production environment on Oracle's schedule. Proactive preparation is the only mitigation strategy.

How to Stay Ahead of Each Release
Monitor the NetSuite Sneak Peek page 60 days before each release
Review official release notes at docs.oracle.com/netsuite
Identify which new features affect your active finance workflows
Test material changes in your sandbox environment before production
Brief your finance users on what's changing and what training is needed
Update internal SOPs and training materials post-release
Verify custom SuiteScripts and integrations are compatible

OAuth 2.0 deadline (2026.1): All new integrations must now use OAuth 2.0 authentication. Token-Based Authentication (TBA) is deprecated for new connections. If you have active integration projects or are onboarding new vendors with NetSuite connections, this is a technical requirement your IT team needs to address immediately.

Your Activation Path

Four Phases to Full AI Value.

The AI features in NetSuite 2026 are already in your environment. The question is whether your organization is positioned to use them effectively. These four phases define the activation journey from awareness to full operational value.

01
Assess What You Have & What You're Using
Audit which 2026.1 AI features are currently activated in your environment versus which are available but unused. Evaluate your current close process metrics — cycle time, exception rate, reconciliation backlog — to establish a baseline for measuring AI impact. Identify gaps in master data quality that will limit AI effectiveness.
02
Activate the Intelligent Close Manager First
The Intelligent Close Manager is the highest-leverage entry point — it creates visibility across all close activities and surfaces where the four autonomous agents can have the most impact. Configure your close calendar, assign task owners, and establish escalation thresholds before enabling agent automation. This sequencing prevents agents from acting on a disorganized baseline.
03
Enable Autonomous Agents in Staged Sequence
Activate close agents in order of risk: Flux Analysis Agent first (read-only narrative generation), then Exception Management (routing, not resolving), then Close Management (automation of defined tasks). Run two full close cycles with parallel monitoring before reducing human oversight. Configure approval thresholds carefully — defaulting conservative initially.
04
Prepare for NetSuite Next
As mid-2026 GA approaches, evaluate your readiness for the Ask Oracle interface, SuiteAgents, and AI Canvas. Identify use cases where natural language ERP access would most benefit your finance users. Review custom SuiteScript and integrations for NetSuite Next compatibility. Plan user training and change management for the new interface experience.

2026.1 Activation Checklist

Verify Intelligent Close Manager is activated and configured with your close calendar
Map your current close workflow to the four autonomous agent categories
Define approval thresholds and escalation paths for each agent
Confirm GenAI bank matching is enabled and trained on your transaction patterns
Identify the 5–10 reports your finance team uses most frequently and test Generate Insight
Confirm all new integrations are using OAuth 2.0 (no TBA for new connections)
Establish a SuiteAgents sandbox use case for testing before NetSuite Next GA
Brief your accounting team on what the agents do and do not do autonomously
